Archi’s Acres, Escondido, CA
Nature of Program: Archi’s Acres (AA) helps transition Active Duty, Veterans, spouses and civilians into Sustainable Organic Agriculture as a career. In a six-week intensive course, students receive training in hydroponics, drip/micro irrigation, environmental control, soil biology, composting and much more. Students earn 17 academic credits and several cetificates.
Type of Program: Vocational Training - Organic Agriculture
Class Frequency: AA provides 6 classes a year with 270 hours of training for each class concentrated over a six-week time frame. 30 students per class.
Number of Veterans Receiving Training: Honored by the White House, their innovative Veterans Sustainable Agriculture Training program has helped well over 200 men and women get back on their feet and help revitalize the American farm.
Latest News: AA’s Veterans Sustainable Agriculture Training (VSAT) program receives 17 credits toward a Degree. VSAT will roll out a nights and weekend course in 2015.
Financial Considerations: VSAT tuition is $4,500. Approved through Cal Poly Pomona, Veteran’s benefits, Tuition Assistance (active duty) and Voc Rehab.
