Train a Dog Save a Warrior, most States

Nature of Program: Train a Dog - Save a Warrior ("TADSAW") provides for the training of a Medical Alert Service Dog, as designated by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 2010 guidelines, for ANY wounded warrior, Active Duty or Veteran, surviving with PTSD, MST and/or TBI, in order to restore and improve the warrior’s Quality of Life with a canine “Battle Buddy”, at no charge to the warrior.

Type of Program: Medical Alert Service Dogs

Training Frequency: TADSAW programs last for 15 to 20 weeks, depending upon the Team’s development and training, with one or two lessons per week. The warrior trains within a 75 to 100 mile radius of their home, in order to allow the warrior and the dog to train and bond in their home atmosphere.

Number of Veterans Receiving Treatment: Thru October 31, 2014, TADSAW has accredited 337 Service Dog Teams and has approximately 700 Teams in-training or waiting to start with finding a Service Dog candidate and/or local Trainer. Between 80 to 90 new Teams complete the application process and are ready to start each month.

Financial Considerations: TADSAW, INC. does not provide financial services to the Veterans. There is no charge for the program, except for the time, effort, travel to and from training, and the normal costs associated with normal care and well-being of a Dog, including food, bowls, leashes, collars, bedding, etc.
